April 2018Vrancor submits a Site Plan Control Application for a six storey multiple dwelling and a ten storey hotel and six two-storey “townhouse looking” units on Marketwording from GSP’s December, 2019, Planning Justification report, Page 5.
August, 2018Vrancor applies for minor variance on site to allow for the ten storey hotel.The height restriction in Strathcona had been 22 metres, now adjusted to 36.5 metres on the site. Also got accesses to site increased from one to four.
November, 2018Variances approved 
October, 2019Building permit issued for six storey multiple dwelling, ten storey hotel and six two-storey “townhouse looking” units on Market. 
October, 2019Construction begins in earnest on site. 
November, 2019Vrancor appears at Committee of Adjustment with proposals for 10-storey hotel (112) units and a six-storey multiple dwelling (91units) for King and Queen. Also proposes, for 200 Market St. a 15-storey, mixed use building with 141 residential units and seven two-storey townhouses on Market St.It was at this meeting that Vrancor representatives promised neighbours a public meeting about the proposed developments. That meeting never took place.
December 2019Vrancor applies to the City for changes to the Strathcona Secondary Plan, the Transit Oriented Corridor Plan and the Hamilton Official Plan to allow for a 25-storey student residence and 12-storey hotel on the King and Queen site.Neither the developer nor the City inform the community of these applications
January 20, 2020GSP Group announces to the Strathcona Community Council executive that the proposed development at King and Queen will be a 12 storey hotel and a 25-storey tower with two storey dwellings on the south side of Queen St. They also show a preliminary rendering of the proposed development at 200 Market St.At this meeting no mention is made of the amendment requests Vrancor made to the City the month prior
